At NWF we strive to give our employees the kinds of benefits they need to support their work and home lives. NWF offers a flexible benefits package to allow choice among a variety of options to customize a benefits package based on individual employee/family needs.

Health/Vision/Prescription/Dental Care

  • NWF offers comprehensive health, vision, prescription, and dental coverage through a PPO plan. NWF pays 75%-100% of medical premium, dependent upon election. Employees may elect to cover a spouse, domestic partner (same or opposite sex), or dependents under the health, dental, vision and supplemental life insurance plans

Paid Time Off

  • Vacation Leave – 10 to 20 days per year depending on position and tenure
  • Sick Leave -10 days each year

Holidays

  • 16 days each year, including three “floating holidays” chosen by the employee

Work Schedule

  • Most NWF employees start their day between 8-10am. Lots of NWFers works a standard 40 hour workweek. But we recognize that everyone is different. We try to stay flexible. Working with your team, you can customize your work schedule to meet the particular demands of your job.

Financial Benefits

  • Tax Deferred Annuity 403(b): Employees can join immediately. NWF matches up to 3% after one year of employment, 4% after three years and 5% after five years. After your first employment anniversary employees are eligible for an Employer Contribution equal to 2% of annual salary at year-end, regardless of employee’s contribution.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Employees are eligible for $1,500 in tax-free educational assistance for undergrad or grad-level courses, annually.
  • Flexible Spending: Includes the option of a medical and/or dependent care account.
  • AD&D (Accidental Death & Dismemberment) Insurance: One and half times annual salary up to $400k, all paid by NWF
  • Life Insurance: One and half times annual salary up to $400k, all paid by NWF.
  • Short Term Disability: Employees receive 50%-100% of their pay paid by NWF depending on length of disability.
  • Long-Term Disability: Employees receive 60% of their salary, paid for by NWF

Offers Personal Health Partners that lends a hand with many aspects of family healthcare.

  • Credit Monitoring: If you want someone else to monitor your credit report and restore your identity if it is ever stolen (hopefully, it won’t!), it can be done, at a group rate.
  • Transportation Benefits: Employees can select a pre-tax payroll deduction for the purchase of a Smartbenefitsīƒ’ farecard for commuting to and from work on D.C. metro area public transportation
  • Supplemental Life Insurance: Employees may purchase additional life insurance in an amount ranging from half to five times the employee’s salary, up to a maximum of $200k. You can even purchase life insurance for your dependents
  • Pet Insurance: Because sometimes the most important person in your life isn’t a person, you can get a 10% discount off normal rates.
  • Membership in NWF: For the convenience of NWF staff who wish to make membership donations to NWF, employees can request that their chosen donation amount be divided into incremental payroll deductions over the course of the year.

Our benefits go well beyond the traditional. Take our parties, for example – where we get silly with photo booths – or games like corn hole and table tennis. Or join in for our annual chili cook-off, or our “Bike to Work Day” ice cream party, or maybe even a wildlife scavenger hunt or nature walk.
