Senior Education Outreach Manager
South Central Regional Center, Austin, Texas
Marya Fowler joined the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) in October of 1999. Prior to working with NWF Marya taught for several years at the secondary level. She went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Environmental Planning and Landscape Design and worked in the field of landscape design and restoration, helping to create restoration management plans for habitat and wildlife using native plants.
Since Marya has been with NWF, she has worked as the Education Manager for the South Central Regional Office of NWF, followed by becoming a Regional Representative in 2005, responsible for collaborating and networking with NWF affiliates to increase their capacity to advance conservation issues. As of June 2010 Marya has returned to our education program as our Senior Education Outreach Manager in the South Central Region. A primary focus of her new position is the advancement of NWF’s school-based programming, including Eco-Schools USA, Schoolyard Habitats, and global warming education and literacy, with an emphasis on integrating these programs at the state and school district levels and promoting environmental education as a means to improving student academic performance.
