WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Farm Bill framework from U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-Ark.) underscores the broad bipartisan support for robust investment in agricultural conservation programs. The latest framework is a welcome step toward forging a bipartisan Farm Bill that benefits farmers, ranchers, wildlife, and the environment before the end of the year.

“It is essential that Congress come together this year to pass a bipartisan Farm Bill that not only supports farmers and ranchers, but that also increases funding for USDA conservation programs, safeguards our grasslands and other essential habitat, and protects recent investments in climate-smart agriculture,” said Aviva Glaser, senior director of agriculture policy at the National Wildlife Federation. “Thank you to Senator John Boozman for including many of these priorities in his newly released Farm Bill framework, including a historic increase in funding for conservation.  We have some concerns, however, about the proposal’s lack of climate sideboards for Inflation Reduction Act funding and some changes to the Conservation Reserve Program. We look forward to working with Senator Boozman, Chair Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) and their colleagues in the House to find a bipartisan path forward for the Farm Bill. Farmers, ranchers, and wildlife cannot wait another year.”
