Invasive Carp

Invasive carp are a serious threat to the health of our Great Lakes and surrounding waterways. At the Great Lakes Regional Center, we work to prevent their spread by securing federal investments and supporting the Brandon Road Lock and Dam project.
 

On Thursday, September 8, 2022 our latest film project: Against the Current 2: Progress Towards Protecting the Great Lakes From Invasive Carp aired. Thanks to the generous support of the  Great Lakes Fishery Trust, this is the second film that explores the ways Invasive Carp threaten Michigan waters. More than one-third of U.S. fish and wildlife species are at risk of extinction in the coming decades. The National Wildlife Federation is on the ground in seven regions across the country, collaborating with 53 state and territory affiliates to reverse the crisis and ensure wildlife thrive.
