WASHINGTON, D.C. — Elizabeth Klein, the newly appointed director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will bring essential experience and deep knowledge to the agency, which will play a critical role in implementing the Biden Administration’s offshore energy and conservation work.
“Responsible and sustainable offshore wind energy is one of the most important tools we have for building a clean energy economy and reducing emissions,” said Amber Hewett, who leads the National Wildlife Federation’s offshore wind program. “Amanda Lefton, BOEM’s previous director, leaves a legacy of laudable progress toward the administration’s offshore wind leasing and permitting ambitions, while increasing efficiency and public transparency. We look forward to continuing to work with Elizabeth and the Bureau to build even more robust stakeholder engagement and to ensure that development of this scale is held to the highest standards of wildlife and habitat protection.”
