DENVER – Artemis Sportswomen, an initiative of the National Wildlife Federation, announced it is launching a unique all-women hunting lease in Tennessee for the 2023 hunting season. The lease spans 1,700 acres outside of Crab Orchard, Tenn. and will be offered to 10 applicants. The deadline for applying is Oct 15, 2023.
“We are excited about this opportunity for women to hunt on this land, build community with one another, and help with some light maintenance and restoration projects to ensure the land continues to thrive for future generations,” said Carlee Koutnik, program manager for Artemis Sportswomen. “This is precisely what Artemis is all about: encouraging women hunters to come together to have fun, to learn, and to share their talents in elevating every facet of the sporting conservation life.”
Only Tennessee residents may apply for the lease and they must live within a 100-mile radius of Crab Orchard. If selected, applicants will have to complete a background check, pay a $200 membership fee, and help maintain the property. The wooded area is home to white-tailed deer, northern bobwhite quail, and eastern cottontail rabbits, among other species. More information can be found here.
Artemis is part of the National Wildlife Federation and encourages women hunters and anglers to effectively use their voices to promote wildlife conservation and habitat restoration.
