WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Wildlife Federation released the following statement in response to today’s announcement, by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, of the spending framework for $2.6 billion in coastal resilience funding from the Inflation Reduction Act:
“Rising climate threats are an existential challenge to ecosystems and communities across the nation," said Jessie Ritter, associate vice president for water and coasts at the National Wildlife Federation. "The Biden-Harris administration's plan for maximizing dollars from the Inflation Reduction Act is a welcome answer to that challenge. In addition to shoring up coastal resilience, the funds will support tribal priorities around habitat restoration and capacity building, fund climate-ready fisheries work, and support other initiatives like our national marine sanctuary network. We thank the administration for their leadership and collaborative vision and look forward to joining the national effort to build a more resilient, equitable future for our coastal communities and marine resources."
