Bills Will Strengthen Democracy, Voters' Roles in Shaping Climate, Wildlife Solutions

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A series of bills focused on making voting more accessible would honor the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington and help ensure all voters have a say in the solutions necessary to confront the climate and wildlife crises facing the country. The National Wildlife Federation urged Congress to help ensure all voters have a voice at the ballot box.

“The worsening climate and wildlife crises are impacting every community in our country, and we must ensure that everybody has a say in the solutions needed to address these challenges. Equitable and fair access to the ballot box is the foundation of a healthy democracy, and vital to our work on behalf of communities and wildlife,” said Mustafa Santiago Ali, vice president of environmental justice, climate and community revitalization at the National Wildlife Federation. “Congress should meet this moment, and mark the anniversary of the March on Washington by passing these bills along with the Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to expand access to voting and address the barriers to the ballot box.”

The National Wildlife Federation supports the following bills, introduced today by Congresswoman Nikema Williams (D-Ga.):
