Superfund Cleanup Investments Will Help Address Generational Injustices Facing Frontline Communities

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Biden Administration’s $1 billion investment in Superfund site clean-up efforts will help address the enduring environmental injustices facing frontline communities across the country. The funding, released thanks to the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, will help start cleanup efforts at 25 Superfund sites and build on progress at more than 85 other Superfund sites.

“For generations, frontline communities have been treated as afterthoughts and left to contend with the toxic legacy of some of the nation’s worst Superfund sites. These investments underscore not only the Biden Administration’s commitments to pursuing environmental justice, but also the need for additional investments in the future,” said Adrienne Hollis, vice president of environmental justice, public health, and community revitalization for the National Wildlife Federation. “We look forward to working with the president, the EPA, and Congress to keep the momentum behind Superfund site clean-up efforts.”
