Partnership Inspires People to Turn Yards, Parks, Schools and More into Thriving Habitats for Birds, Butterflies, Other Wildlife
RESTON, Va. — The National Wildlife Federation and Wild Birds Unlimited have renewed their long-term partnership to inspire people everywhere to protect and restore vital wildlife habitat through the Federation’s Certified Wildlife Habitat® program.
“Our partnership with Wild Birds Unlimited aligns perfectly with the Certified Wildlife Habitat® program to create spaces for wildlife to thrive. Native plants provide food and sustenance for a variety of birds and other pollinators while mitigating the impacts of climate change.” said Krista Newberry, head of licensing and partnerships for the National Wildlife Federation. “Birds, bees, and butterflies are vital to these habitats and Wild Bird Unlimited’s work on behalf of bird populations is a key part of that success and integral to the success of our program. We are so pleased to continue this valuable partnership.”
Through its partnership with the National Wildlife Federation’s Certified Wildlife Habitat® program, Wild Birds Unlimited offers people the opportunity to actively participate in conservation efforts, learn more about bird watching, bird feeding and nature appreciation, and to play a role in scientific research designed to protect the environment from harmful changes.
“We are thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with the National Wildlife Federation and to champion the Certified Wildlife Habitat® program. Together we can “Save The Song Birds®” and assist individuals to create and conserve habitats for an array of wildlife in their own backyards. We are a local community resource to help anyone get started and it’s easier than you might think,” said Jim Carpenter, CEO, and founder of Wild Birds Unlimited.
“Wild Birds Unlimited is an essential Habitat Champion in National Wildlife Federation’s goals to bring people and nature together to increase native plant habitats — whether on a porch, in a yard, or at a local park, school or workspace,” said Mary Phillips, head of Native Plant Habitat Strategy and Certified Wildlife Habitat® for National Wildlife Federation. “We value Jim Carpenter’s decades long commitment and the WBU franchise store owners to inspire people to turn any space into a thriving habitat for birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.”
